WHO AM I AND WHAT IS THIS SITE?

ABOUT ME

My name is Merili, I am from Tallinn and this is where I live right now. However, I have also lived in other countries in Europe - as an exchange student in southern Spain, writing my dissertation and enjoying nature in Germany and under the Mediterranean sun in Malta.

When moving, especially internationally, you get a pretty good idea of how many THINGS you have. Quite probably, you will encounter a need to get rid of a lot, unless you want to spend larger sums on shipping.

It wasn't until I started moving between countries that I realised how good it is that I don't have to take all of my accumulated possessions with me into my future life.

For a long time, I was the person who kept a lot of stuff because "maybe it'll be of use soon" (little spoiler - it won't!).

When I came back to Estonia, I immediately took on my childhood room and threw away a bunch of old schoolwork and other useless stuff, donated most of the clothes (why did I think I should ever need them ??) and tidied up all the rest.

DISCLAIMER

I would like to mention that I do not have a specific method or style for organising. I have worked through the different outputs of various specialists, and everything that is found in my “creation” is a combination of different methods or my own interpretation and understanding of the principles of tidying and organisation. I definitely don't consider myself an expert! If you want to follow only a certain school, I recommend finding the respective experts.

Tidy space, happy face!

HOW WAS NATUKE PALJU BORN?

I became more interested in organising in the second half of 2020 when I stayed home with my baby. I wanted my home to be in order all the time and I had time to read, study, and experiment. I taught myself the basics, immersed into the new knowledge and scrolled Amazon for a long time to find just the right tools for me.

Then it occurred to me that in fact a small organiser soul has always been inside me - why else would I have been interested in all kinds of boxes and crates, drawers and shelves and cork boards all my conscious life? And why did I always need notebooks that had colourful separators, different-coloured markers to categorize my writings, why I really like using Excel and why my phone apps must be in folders, and why my photos need to be in folders AND subfolders…

When all of these things from the past started making sense and I added my new knowledge and tips to the old ones, I realised that I also want to help others who don't experience ecstasy when they see storage boxes in IKEA, but who would still like their lives to be a little tidier and, as a result, possibly brighter. That's how Natuke Palju was born .
